As for burgers, they are very big and very good but not the best imho. For a basic burger the burger joint gets my vote, the village bistro gets my vote for a big heavy burger. Shake shack has a great burger as well, all are cheaper than lugers as well.
Once took my mother there for her b-day and the waiter sung her an opera as he was a retired opera singer, pretty cool.
As a heads up if going you must bring cash as no credit is allowed (house account is allowed)
I've been to the Village Bistro a couple dozen times and I simply don't get it. Not only do I not think it is a fantastic burger, I kinda think it sucks. I go with a good freind who is nutso over them. I don't even bother ordering anymore and simply drink and watch him moan and groan in pleasure.

To each his own, I guess.

I regret not making reservations for Luger's while in NY this past week. A couple we dined with had nothing but high accolades for Luger's and left me wanting!

My next-door neighbor just returned from a trip to NYC; he raved about his dining experience at Peter Luger's. Now I REALLY want to go! Cool

"Village Bistro" - are you referring to the Corner Bistro or is this a different place entirely? Used to love the Corner Bistro but I am talking early to mid-90s. Was cheap and good.

Have found that BLT has a better steak than Lugers, and served without attitude.

Well, we certainly disgaree on that. I think Luger's serves the finest steak anywhere, and I've been everywhere! Smile

Just one more sip.

it was corner bistro and not village bistro which is on a corner in the village, my bad. LOL

Board-O Have you had a Gallagher's steak? That and the kobe filet from uncle jacks on bell are my top two and as of last year or so the 60 day aged ribeye at MAC's is a close third.

That and the kobe filet from uncle jacks on bell Been there but never had the Kobe. Their Porterhouse isn't even close to Luger's.

the 60 day aged ribeye at MAC's is a close third. MAC's?

corner bistro burger sucks ass.

maybe it was good before i moved here, i wouldn't know. but in the past 4 years, it has always sucked. i keep falling for the hype and stop in every now and then. i'll stick with the shake shack & the burger joint.

whoever thinks blt is better than lugers needs to get back on their med's...

It sounds like we need several offlines to compare -- Lugers v. Gallaghers v. MACs v. Uncle Jack's.
