Cool Sirloin and artichoke, each done to perfection. Paired with 2005 Giacomo Grimaldi Dolcetto d'Alba. Really nice...

2 weeks I think. Since NY only has 2 seasons now Summer and Winter. 85 degrees this week, so I'll be freezing next month.

We are doing the classic steakhouse meal at home. Pan roasted filet mignon topped with a little clarified butter along with au gratin potatoes and steamed asparagus. Question is big juicy CA cab or Bordeaux? Debating 2001 Ducru or 2004 Chappellet.

Glenn, I would hold the 2001 Ducru for several more years.

Went to El Dorado after work today, A Peruvian restaurant in Chula Vista.

I had the Ceviche, done right, fish, shrimp, octopus, in lime juice, sliced red onions with sweet potato and corn on the side.

I also had some anticuchos. It is the beef heart. Kind of like a mixture of liver and beef. I love it.

I think I am going back next week.

Belgian beer, this is Chula Vista we are talking about, give em a break, they just got Budweiser in last week. Big Grin

Actually they had a selection of Peruvian beers, I kind of lost my taste for beer though, if I was in a "when in Rome mood" I may have ordered one, but I am more likely to go for some Inca Cola. Just had a glass of water though.

Tonight I made dinner for my girlfriend and myself.

I made a muscovy duck breast that I scored and seared, then roasted to medium rare. I deglazed with sherry and white wine, and made a shallot/garlic/soy sauce reduction with marjoram and orange. Served that with some herb crepes.

That was next to a butterflied leg of lamb that I marinated with fresh garlic, rosemary, salt/pepper, olive oil, and was seared on the grill then cooked on the second rack of the grill with some rosemary on fire on the grate.

Served it with a bottle of 2003 Domaine Chevalier (Burgundy) and finished the night with a bottle of 2003 Château Beau-Site that I had decanted for 2 hours and was very good.

Quickly, bring me a beaker of wine, so that I may wet my mind and say something clever. - Aristophanes

Tonight will be very simple scallopine di vitello al limone. Going to have a glass or two of 2004 Paternoster Aglianico del Vulture Synthesi with it, regardless of the lemon interaction with the wine. Should be fine.

Made a great dinner tonight for some good friends:

Lasagne with bay leaf infused bechamel sauce/wilted spinach
Garlic/Parm. Reggiano bread
Greek Salad (authentic, no lettuce)
Sauteed baby bok choy with red pepper and garlic
Bananas Foster and vanilla frozen custard

2002 Beringer Cab. Napa Valley

Delicious, and made better by great company.
