Oh, that peach.

In the context of food choices, this is what came to mind. I guess having kids does that to you.

More on an oatmeal guy now (Quaker instant, I'm not fancy), but if I had to go for a breakfast cereal it would probably be raisin bran.

I remember eating Booberry as a kid. When I was seven I remember talking my grandma into the fact that Hostess Ding Dongs and Pepsi were breakfast food.

I do. Worst excuse for cookies & milk EVER! Much preferred a good bowl of Count Chocula.

I think I would still like Booberry. Maybe that's why I like many Aussie Shiraz?

We don't eat much breakfast cereal but tonight I picked up a box of Apple Jacks. I told my son that I used to eat these when I was kid. He replied "Really, was the box in black and white back then?" I didn't realize I was raising a comedian, only he wasn't trying to be funny it was a sincere inquiry!

Now be honest. How many of you made your mother buy some horrible tasting crap just so you could get that cool looking 2-cent plastic piece of crap toy prize in the box that you couldn't live without?

Remember having to eat some crap for a couple of weeks long after that crappy prize was broken, lost or worse yet, not a cool as it seemed on the outside of the box?

Been there, done that, GA. I freely admit it.

Along with getting whacked on the head when my mother caught me with my arm down the inside of the puckered open box, digging through the cereal for the prize advertised.

Oh, yeah. Big Grin

And yeah, I think all the cereal manufacturers dropped "Sugar" from their product names in the 80's or 90's in a lame attemt to hide the fact.

When I'm home, I always have cereal for breakfast. I do a rotation of Special K, Raisin Bran and sometimes oatmeal.

A soon to be classic in the making.

Bacon cereal

Your share of the national debt has increased by $6,180 from 10/1 - 9/30/09. Have you told your kids and grand kids they will be paying back your share in addition to their own?

when we were in chicago we had dinner at Glenn's Diner.
They have a slew of cereal. I had halibut with blue cheese horseradish sauce that was fantastic. They also have $5 corkage.

It's not a total thread drift if I am bringing up cereal, right?

I used to love Buc-Wheats as a really young kid. I think that they disappeared in the early 80's when I was probably about an 8 y.o. so my recollection of them may be better than the reality. My older siblings raved about them though. I am not much of a breakfast person now and since I am typically out the door within 20 to 25 minutes of waking up in the morning, I eat my breakfast in the car and it is typically a cup of coffee and an apple. When I do have time for a bowl of cereal or can eat at home I eat Quaker Oatmeal Squares or something similar made by Barbara's called Shredded Oats. Another Barbara's cereal that I like is Cinnamon Puffins. I also like Grape Nuts in a bowl of yogurt. Other breakfasts when I have more time include cantaloupe, poached eggs on buttered English muffins, oatmeal with brown sugar, toasted walnuts and dried cranberries mixed into it or sunshine toast - eggs cooked into a hole in the middle of a piece of bread. On rare occasions, usually on weekends before a 100+ mile bike ride, I'll have tons of pancakes with breakfast sausage or French toast made with sour dough bread and served with maple syrup.

Just in time for International bacon day

To avoid too much thread drift:

Cherrios with fruit
Raisin Bran
Either of the above with Grape Nuts
Bear Naked granola with yogurt.

And:

"Along with getting whacked on the head when my mother caught me with my arm down the inside of the puckered open box, digging through the cereal for the prize advertised."

Exactly.
