I have an overnight in Paris from Istanbul in November. Is this the place I should eat?

I just read up on all the three stars in Paris. From what I read, Plaza Athenee is the place where anyone who thinks they are someone goes to eat. Since I'm a big nobody, I didn't go. What I read is that the chef has little power to reject ingredients that he finds less than acceptable. Since it is a place to be seen, it can be, at times, more about providing guests exaclty what they want, when they want it, no matter what. As a result, that can lead to using less than perfect ingredients. If the menu says there is lamb tonight, and Paris Hilton wants lamb, then damnit, there had better be lamb whether its beautiful and tender or a little tough and gamey (not that she eats, bless her skinny little heart). That being said, I'm sure the experience would be wonderful. As for me and my gal, we went to Les Ambassadeurs, which was great, but I can't say I would recommend it. It was too stuffy for my taste. I really wanted to go to L'Ambroisie or try the new 3 star Le Meurice, which apparntly does a stellar job with their food and wine pairing. I could not get a table at those places, which is why I chose Les Ambassadeurs, my back up to the back up. Some of the food was stunning, some was overly fat and bland.

you might try Taillevant--not open on Saturday or Sunday.
Roentgen Ray---is Le Meurice in the hotel of the same name? Irwin Unless you're the lead sled dog, the view never changes. |

we stayed at the Meurice for one night a few years ago. Elegant place. Had a small bottle of Perrier in the bar. Cost about 10 Euros. Of course, they had to import it all the way from France.
