Open table actually had a table for 4 for Lunch last Sunday, so we jumped. My 2nd trip, his 3rd. I was really disappointed this time. The service was really off. Placing of wrong item in front of the wrong guest multiple times, having to ask for coffee refill more than once, constantly asked if we were through with a course before we were, etc. The food also seemed less impressive this go round. Granted, this was the first visit in spring,so lighter fare, but no courses grabbed at all this time. One of our party splurged the extra $100 for the Shiga beef and really didn't care for it. One bite type of thing. The waiter didn't even ask why she hadn't eaten it. Lastly the Sommelier seemed tentative when asked for wine pairing suggestions and disappeared when we would have liked more wine. He also never came round to ask how we liked any of the wines. I was very disappointed, and with so many other great choices in the Valley and City, that may have been our last visit. Anyone else had a so so experience there lately?

Sorry about your luck. I haven't been since last fall. The food service was very good, the wine service was OK, they get a WE for wine effort, and the actual food on the plate, perfect.

I browsed over to ChowHound to check out the latest reviews and found several recent ones that echo my visit. I even found a post that was almost identical to mine from the exact same day. It was light years from my last visit and a bit sad

If you had a bad experience I'm sure their are other options where you wouldn't have to worry about getting your money's worth especially if you set the dinner up for your friends who were not satisfied.

Oh, and they now add a mandatory 60% gratuity on parties of two or more.
On one recent visit, Thomas Keller came by our table, spat in my face, and kicked my grandmother right in the shin as hard as he could.
