Was in Philly this weekend due to an illness in the family unfortunately, but managed to step out to this new spot in Center City (18th and Sansom) that was recently profiled in WS.
Very attractive and small wine bar with small plates of food. The Decor was very nice, a few steps up off the street. A narrow space with a banquette with maybe 6 -8 tables, a long bar and some tables in the back. Very relaxed setting. The menu consisted of a number of bruschette items and appetizers, paninis, salads and cheese selections. We were a party of 4 and had two selections of cheese (a goat and a blue) and a vegetable antipasto which was a delicious assortment of roasted vegetables, olives and some other items. On to the wine, they had a list including I would guess 15-20 whites and an equal number of reds each available by the glass and bottle. The selections were not big name wines at all, but encompassed a lot of regions and styles. MLV and I each had a glass of 1995 Prince Poniatosky Aigle Blanc Vouvray, largely because we visisted the Prince and his winery in 2002 and pretty much always buy or order his wine when we see it. Was drinking quite well, had nice texture, only a hint of sweetness. Also had a 2000 Chateau Coupes Roses Minervois which was a grenache syrah blend which went well with the blue cheese. The stem-ware was excellent. Their beer selection was also quite impressive. We enjoyed this spot and while the list will not knock anyone's socks off, I would recommend it to anyone in the Philly area. |

Thanks for the tip.
If you are ever in Philly again, drop me a line. I hope the circumstances are better, next time. Regards, DBW |
