I am going ouot to dinner tonight at a nice steak house and plan on having the house specialty porterhouse. I am bringing a bottle with me and hve it narrowed down to the following...which would you bring?
1. 2001 Worthy Sophias Cuvee 2. 2001 Justin Reserve paso 3. 2000 Ridge Monte Bello 4. 1999 Silver Oak alex Thanks for you feedback! |

I had the 2001 Worthy last weekend, and it was a really nice bottle. If you're being charged corkage, it seems nuts to bring a $25 wine, but it was great with grilled meat.

Must go with Silver O, no questions.

I would probably go with Silver Oak too, but it may very well be on their list. I don't believe in bringing any wine that the restaurant may have. Doesn't look good and even the Justin is pretty common.
I'd check out their list, if you haven't already. |

What's the difference? Face it - you are a cheap bastard and you are bringing your own wine to save money; I see no reason to back off if the wine you brought is on the list. Might as well rub it in. Oh, yeah, and don't forget to offer your server a sip, he might shave corkage off your bill. ...................................... When I think of a bad taco, I think of you - Tannic Bastard |

Wrong. That's not why I bring. Most lists suck. My wine is better. They could charge me $30 to open it, I wouldn't give a $hit - I'd still bring. In the end, I bet I spent more (cost for my wine, and corkage and the nice tip I leave), than 95% of the people who buy some lamo $40 Kendall Jackson from the list. And I keep coming back and my favorite places hug me at the door when I do. |

I'm dissapointed. I really thought you were sharper than this.
Maybe you really are not Grunhauser? |

Maybe?! Talk about lack of sharpness.

I suspect this is an act of contrition for the outing of Bob St. Claire.

I can see how you guys think it is me, but I can assure you I don't own any of the bronsons any more, not since X-Mas. I gave the original away as a gift to someone.

Sad news really, I do remember the golden age of coolbronson, discussions with Tsunami about billiards and posting people's names on an anonymous board. coldbronson and cultbronson remain Grunhauser-esque, though.

Thanks for the feedback. I went with the Montebello and was very happy I did. It really started to show its potential about 1 hr after opening.
Good call about S.O. being on the menu...no Ridge at all. |
