Looking for Miami Beach (or areas close in Miami-Dade) restaurants based on food quality, wine list is not of greatest importance.

Thanks !

There are quite a few threads on this. Suggest doing a search to locate them.

I did search, and did not find many threads that helped. As a Palm Beach County, and formewr Broward resident, I am familiar with some SFLA restaurants just not Miami-Dade too well. I am not looking for Joe's, been there, done that (not what I call top quality food either, but I am not gonna go in that direction here). Chef Allen's I know about but that is in Aventura, looking for some further south.

As chefs and quality can change over time, I am looking for current reommendations. If you can help, great, but otherwise....

Inky,

There are a bunch of Miami foodies here that can give you good suggestions. On Miami Beach, I like YUCA, DeVito, Gotham (in the Fontainebleau, Barton G, Ola and Doraku for Sushi. In Design District (my neighborhood) I like Michael's Genuine and Soyka. In the Gables, check out Christy's, La Dorada, Pascal's, Maroosh or Randazzo's (great hearty Italian).

Big fan of China Grill. Yeah, its a chain but I love their lobster pancakes. For sushi, Nobu, in the Shore Club hotel is obviously very good but very pricey. If you are willing to drive up to Broward try Cafe Matterano(sp?). Phenomenal!!!

Is the Forge still around? That was an institution for many years.

Thanks...I am actually in Palm Beach County but need some choices in Miami Beach area. If I went to Nobu they may lock me up as a permanent dishwasher by the time dinner was over.

I think Doraku on Lincoln has great sushi and is reasonably priced.

I like Cacao in the Gables a lot, was there on Tuesday. Where is the Pacific Time guy's current place? Further north, Timo in Sunny Isles is quite good.

We were in South Miami a while ago and liked the food/wine at Graziano's (9227 Bird Road). The food is Argentine/steakhouse. They have a great wine list and have a feature where they discount some of them by 50% from Monday - Thursday. The discount wines include some very good choices.

We liked it enough to go back twice in one week.

I'm not a big fan of SOBE but I like Escopazzo and Casa Tua. Also a new french place that just open a few months ago Au Pied de Cochon was excellent.

Much better service and dinning IMHO at the Gables; Pascal's, Palm D'Or, Bugatti and Grazianos (Gables location) to name a few.

A few hidden gems around Miami Caffe Di Note, El Secreto, Caffe Vialetto

Inky,

Check out Two Chefs in South Miami (not sure how far south you wanted to go)...but overall a great restaurant and very classy dining room. THey also have 50% off on wine on Tuesday nights.

If you like Italian...try Anacapri on Ponce. An outstanding wine list, very fair proces and good food as well.

Cheers,
