We're having a much belated family "Passover" dinner. The menu involves Brisket (Jewish style, not BBQ), Swedish meatballs, string beans in a tomato sauce, matzoh ball soup. What wine would you recommend with such a meal? General varietal suggestion would be fine. I was thinking maybe a Burgundy would go well. The wine need not be Kosher. Thanks! Smile

Planning next year's menu already? The last night of Passover was April 19th. Confused

Just one more sip.

5th question:
On all other nights we drink a full bodied Cabernet Sauvignon, with a lush nose, well balanced, and moderate tannins. Why on this night do we drink that horrid sweet stuff?

If the meatballs are the typically "sweet" Swedish meatballs, probably would recommend a Zin. Should be good enough with the brisket. Will hold up to the meatballs. Happy holiday!

Thanks for the suggestions. I realize that Passover had passed but the only time that our far-flung family could get together was last weekend (i.e. after Passover). We called it a Passover dinner even though it really wasn't.

I ended up buying 3 bottles of Dry Creek Vineyard 2003 Heritage Zinfandel, which I really liked. It went well with the meatballs, which were on the sweeter side.

Sounds like a good choice. I've found their Zins to be good QPRs. By the way, their winery is a great place for a picnic.

Just one more sip.
