Okay -- so there are probably only about seventeen threads that cover this topic, but what I'm looking for is fresh advice. The wife and I are going to Cape Cod in mid-August. We're staying in Orleans, and the wife is going to a conference in Eastham.

Where should we eat?

and bonus points for anyone who can tell me the best places to play golf while we're there.

GPN, the problem is that you asked for fresh advice so I don't know if the old advice is stale or if you are looking to see if anything new has opened up. Smile

Anyways, I'll ask around to see if anything new has opened. You looking to keep close to Orleans?

I will be in a rental cottage Truro (3 towns away) from 12 August for 2 weeks. I take it the conference is at the Four Points Sheraton in Eastham.

In Orleans, cheap and good is Land Ho!

In Eastham, the Lobster Pool has good seafood. Both these places have mundane wine lists. Decent wine in Chatham, Brewster and P-Town, but it is a resort area so value is out the window!

Wellfleet, the next town up from Eastham, has a few good restaurants PLUS a BYO seafood place - MAC's Seafood (nothing fancy but fresh - picnic tables overlooking the harbor next to the theatre - BYO glasses too!). m-driver found another one on the lower Cape but I don't know it - I''ll ask him though.

I don't golf at all, but the Highland Links Course in Truro is on the Cape Cod National Seashore so you might like that - ocean views, lighthouses, etc. Windy too most of the time.

You will be in the nicest part of the Cape too.

Moby Dick's in Wellfleet is the other BYO. More of the same....but the fish is slappy-fresh, downside is it's on the main highway (Rte 6)

TuaRita --

Sounds like you might be going to the same conference as my wife. She, too, is at the Five Points in Eastham. We'll be up there from 8/13 through 8/18. If you want to pull a cork together, shoot me an email: golfzinnut@yahoo.com

Sorry I missed you I had a chance to get in a bit early at the cottage without extra money and took it! No internet connectivity there and my company frowns on wifi so I'm just getting back to you now.

Hope you had a great time though and maybe sometime soon if paths cross!
