Last night at Rosa Mexicano (my first time dinning here)

A variety of mexican dishes including a great mole poblano. As close as you can get to the real thing.

I highly recommend this place (Miami-location).

Tonight:

Thai

homemade !!

had some buttermilk left over after making pancakes on sunday..

so chicken fried steak ...

put some aside, added some corn meal, salt pepper and you have it.. hush puppies.

Though, I guess there's nothing like a real texas chicken fried steak =)

Boy do I love a good chicken fried steak - with eggs.... Smile

Well, neither the bockwurst, hot links, nor the cheeseburgers made it to the grill. Instead, I grilled some marinated chicken drumsticks and thighs, some Italian sausage, and more baby Delta asparagus. '06 MacPhail Sonoma Coast Pinot....

Oh man, if you had that for breakfast, you'd have two people in this section that bows to you.

It is one of my favorites for breakfast - with a nice country gravy.

My other breakfast faves? Corned beef hash and huevos rancheros.....

I have been on a pizza kick lately. Last night was veggie with red and green bell peppers, mushrooms, onions, tomatoes and some roasted garlic and basil.

Pork Tenderloin with Portabello and shi-take (that's a pain trying to get that word by the forum's auto censors) mushroom sauce accompanied by white bean puree and roasted root veggies. Served with De Loach Pinot Noir (alright, but not great QPR).

Went out for sushi and beers last night. Ending up being too many beers as I’m on my third cup of coffee already.

Got into San Francisco last night (in town for a wedding). Went to Michael Mina at our hotel. I have heard mixed reviews, but we had a great night. I started with the excellent dayboat scallop trio paired with a glass of the 2000 Prager Riesling Smaragd Kaiserberg. Susie had the ahi tartare with a glass of the 2006 Leitz Riesling Kabinett Klosterlay. Next I went for the beef tasting which included a grass fed rib-eye, American kobe short rib and a Japanese kobe sirloin steak. Beef was excellent and perfectly paired with the 1990 Domaine de Trevallon Coteaux d’Aix en Provence. Susie went for the Lobster pot pie which was amazing, but so rich it quickly becomes cloying. By the time dessert came I was ready to kill myself, but I still managed a few bits of my peanut butter and banana sandwich and Susie did a good job on her breakfast trio. A couple of espressos, a swipe of the amex and we crawled back to our room. Fun night. Cool

It was 85 degrees here in near Napa today, so we pretended it was Summer. I bet it accelerates the growth on the three vines in the backyard. Mr Happy opened a Martinelli 2005 Bondi pinot prior to dinner, I started with a glass of Lillet over ice. We grilled bone in rib eye and potatoes and added a side of heirloom tomato, fresh mozz and basil. Opened a Darioush 2003 signature cab. It was still super tannic and I'm not sure if the fruit will live until it settles down. We will probably hold the last bottle for 3-4 more years at least. All in all a good food night.
