Yeah really. That dish for him is the equivalent of a grilled cheese for a lot of people around here. Smile

Roast Chicken with Hunter Sauce (mushrooms, white wine deglaze, touch of dijon and veal demi-glace - I finally have a local place that makes a reduced veal stock, woo hoo!!!). Served with Potatoes Lyonnaise (mandolin sliced potatoes sauteed in duck fat) and new carrots.
Served with 2005 Casa Silva Carménère Gran Reserva Los Lingues

My wife said it was a perfect meal and while I appreciate her exaggeration, this was pretty close to as good as it gets for me, too.

I made a Thai/Vietnamese type spicy/ginger almond butter marinade, rolled some chicken pieces (cleaned a whole chicken) in it, skewered them and grilled 'em.

Also made a grapefruit based-rosemary/garlic rub and slow grilled a rack of lamb.

It was a good night and with plenty of leftovers tomorrow will be a good lunch Smile

Finished a half-bottle of '07 KB Pinot Rose and opened an '03 Chameleon Charbono.

Quickly, bring me a beaker of wine, so that I may wet my mind and say something clever. - Aristophanes

Not to rub it in (not possible, since you drink wines that I only dream of), but the food, in combination with the company and the 2005 Brickhouse Chardonnay and 2005 Cameron Clos Electique made this a fantastic evening.
