We took our first shot at making braciole last night. It tasted very good, but we definitely need some work on the way it looks and doing it correctly. I think we needed to pound it down thinner (we did not pound at all per the recipe we used) and get better at tying it together. It ended up pretty much fallen apart and was not anything that resembled a rolled log.

If anyone has any tips on braciole (did a search and it looks like a few posters have made it) in regards to recipes or techniques, I would appreciate the input.

Southern Pot Roast, and always better than Yankee p.r. Wink Big Grin

2006 Borsao Crianza -50% grenache, 25% tempranillo and 25% cab sav. Tasty, but probably too young for the pot roast. Needs time but it was only about $15/ btl.

Tuscan white bean and chicken soup. It was actually pretty tasty for an in-house store brand. No wine last night.

My wife turned 29 yesterday and she just wanted to celebrate at home because we have been traveling and eating out a lot lately. I took off early and came up with a little 4 course meal for her. Started with a roasted tomato soup with some grilled bread. Next was pumpkin filled tortellini (bought freshly made from an Italian deli) in a butter and sage sauce. Main course was a pan roasted beef filet, sautéed mushrooms and creamy mash potatoes. We had a half bottle of 05 Shafer one point five with the steak. Wine was ok, if a bit boring but the fruit worked well with the steak. For dessert I picked up her favorite red velvet cupcakes. Fun night at home.

Sounds like a nice night GlennK!

The boys had soccer practice, and DnVsMom is down in Paso Robles for work, so it was pizza night. I love sausage and mushroom pizza!

Last night.

Excellent Lamb at Petras in Los Olivos.

Tonight I will be trying the Hitching Post most likely, although Board-O seemed to hate it and his dining recommendations have aligned with my tastes in the past.

Pizza, followed by little tiny Snickers bars.
