I'm figuring it's a matter of convenience. If Eugene is anything like Portland, you probably have several Starbucks within a few miles of each other to choose from! ------------------------- "I don't want to manage my cellar... I want to drink it." - Jancis Robinson |

Matter of balance! In the AM you have some coffee to get you going. Then, you hit the wineries. After a couple hours of tasting you take a break to have another coffee and some lunch. After you've "regrouped" you're ready for more winery visits/tastings! When you're finished with that you go to a great restaurant (like El Gaucho in Portland) to have a superb meal and some great wines. Damn, that sounds exactly like what my brother and I did a month or so ago! ------------------------- "I don't want to manage my cellar... I want to drink it." - Jancis Robinson |

100% Kona from Bad Ass Coffee Company. Unfortunately, the Kona that they sell on their website is only 10% or 15% Kona. To get the 100% Kona I think you have to buy from one of their Hawaii stores. Certainly worth seeking out if you're ever in Hawaii.

Anything from Intelligentsia in Chicago. Their Black Cat blend for espresso is awesome. They have many other direct trade, single origin coffee as well. Those that were in Chicago in April will recall this is where I dragged everyone for coffee in the morning!

I was in Oahu last month and picked up several pounds of 100% Kona and 100% Kuaui coffee beans that were being roasted at a Costco store. I think the Kona cost me about $15/lb which is a pretty good price based on what the Hilo Hattie and Trader Joes sells them for. I also bought a Frence Press for making coffee, and I love this gadget! Delicious coffee every morning though I think I prefer the Kuaui beans over this particular Kona.

If I remember correctly, Fut, you based your choice of Hotel solely upon it's relative proximity to this place! |

In Chicago last weekend, I passed right by Intelligentsia. Did I go in? Err, no (group I was with was on a mission other than coffee). But I was thinking of ya, Fut!

Fresh Market has lots of imported coffee. So, I just shop there or rely on my Folgers

Who *are* you? Group on a mission or not, there's always time to stop at Intelligentsia. |

As far as I am concerned the best coffee on the planet comes from the Blue mountains in Jamaica.

I combine Folgers Columbian roast and Folger's Gourmet series Hazelnut. It's taken years and gallons of trial and error.

You can purchase fresh roasted coffe beans froM Indigo Roasters in Mass for about $7/lb in 5 pound increments. You call, they roast, you get in 2 days. Best ciffee investiment I ever made. I have 15 lbs coming tomorrow.

Is this all for yourself? I just ran out of beans. I was thinking of ordering at least 5 lbs, but I don't know if the beans will remain fresh over a month. I also want to try a variety of their coffees. Anyone else in the NNJ area who like an excellent cup of joe and may want to purchase coffee from this place? |

This is where I get my morning cup:
http://www.colecoffee.com/ The cafe is also a "coffee" bar. They offer individual drip coffee by the cup. The website says 25, but I think this is outdated and they've cut back. "When I drink, I think; and when I think, I drink." Francois Rabelais www.tanglenet.com TN posted on Cellartracker |
