It is I, but I was wondering where this comes in. It is my feeling that love of wine and love of food are hand in hand. Most wine lovers cook.

Question:
Who does most of the cooking in your house?

Choices:
You
Your Spouse
Pretty Much Equal
Neither Of Us Can Fry An Egg

I do most of the cooking. My wife is a good cook but she is more of a “utility” cook. She’s good at following recipes (she actually flows them to the letter), but she does not enjoy it as much as I do. I am much more likely to improvise when I cook or not follow a recipe at all. Baking is another story…..

I'm going to predict that most of the members on this Board are the ones that cook most often in their relationships. It seems to me that, often times, winos and foodies are one-and-the-same. We're on this site to read about wine, primarily, but also food and wine.

BTW, I do a lot of the cooking.

Cheers!

I cook and drink wine. My husband does neither. Yeah, more for me to drink!

I do most of the cooking, and this is the arrangement I prefer. My wife doesn't have the same appreciation for food as I do, and her cooking shows it. Not that its bad, but you can tell when there is less effort put into cooking than you would, also less knowledge of how things work.

Wow! Friggin' dead on same as me. How many times do you offer to finish something she started cooking, pretending it's to just help HER out?

Once in a while I'll be like "Uh, honey - you can hang out with the kids, I'll pour a glass of wine and finish this up....oh, no problem...my pleasure! Big Grin "

I do all the cooking, and to tell the truth, I don't know if she can cook. Eek I've cooked everything since we've been married!!! And neither of us mind... in fact we both love the arrangement. I love to cook, and she loves that she doesn't have to cook. Razz

I do 90% of the cooking in our house.

Early on, I cooked just to protect myself from her favorites, cereal and delivered pizza. But, as my love of wine has increased, so has my love of cooking.

Got acid?

I'll be very surprised if anyone chooses the last option in the poll. People who care this much about wine must have access to good food at home as well as when dining out.

Just one more sip.

I chose "your spouse" Hunter. She makes some killer breakfasts when she stays overnight. Big Grin

Seriously though. In number of meals, it is my spouse. In quality of meals, it is definitely me. One can only eat Kraft Mac & Cheese so many nights in a row before he is forced to slap a marinated dead carcass on the grill of death.

I do the cooking. You can see why here.

I cook about 90% of the time. I would prefer it was 100%, but every now and then she gets the urge to whip something up. Luckily, it doesn't last too long.

I'm with Hunter and Lizardking on this, in that I do 100% of the elaborate or "foodie-type" cooking, while my wife occasionally plays utility infielder and whips up a casserole or quiche (using frozen crusts and canned, salted-to-high-heaven tomatoes).

I tend to have to stay out of the kitchen when she cooks or I get yelled at for trying to "educate" her...

I can't even watch her try to slice or chop onions without cringing - most times she's using a paring knife...

Squirrel,
I can't count the times I have said: "You should probably not use that knife, or this is what "quarter" means." Only to be yelled at and ignored for the remainder of the evening while I pretend to enjoy over/undercooked, plain and out-of-proportion meal. Oh, and quiche and casseroles are "special" items that would probably require too much of an effort, when she cooks, its: pour teriyaki sauce over frozen chicken breasts and bake for 45 min. Eccchhh!

Oh, but she doesn't compare to mneely, poor guy!

I just get yelled at if I pretend to help her, then the meal gets worse!!
1 more thing, I swear she must be allergic to seasoning, she uses almost no seasoning whatsoever, on anything she cooks... man.

I do all the cooking, which I enjoy very much, and my wife does all the cleanup afterwards.

However, my wife does all the baking, and my wife does all the cleanup afterwards.

It's how we make sure that our efforts are equitable. Smile

Real men don't cook when women are plentiful around the house.
My 3rd wife who was from Philipines was like the best cook ever. I did not even know she had it in her when I married her. She did not speak very much English but her cooking was excellent and autentic. We lived otgether for 4 years, and I was very happy with this arrangemint, but then she moved back to Philipines.

The one after her was from Serbia and that one would not cook jack. Well, you can't win everytime, I say. Now I am single, and except for breakfats I eat out all the time. \
Hopefully my
next wife will be alright in the kitchen.

Does putting a salad together count as cooking?

If not, then I do 100% of the cooking. However, there are nights when my wife asks what we're having and I reply, "meat, if you want anything else, you'll have to fix it yourself".

Ditto here also. I do the rest. I am surprised by how lopsided the responses are. I didn't think so many here would do all the cooking.

Opus Two. Wait a few years and Celine Dion will need a new husband.

So the mail order bride thing isn't working out so hot. Maybe Russianbrides.com for your 4th try??

Anyway, being not a "real man," I've loved to cook since my grandfather began teaching me at about 8 or 9. I've always cooked about 80% of the time. I even have a decent collection of vintage and current cookbooks.
