unfortunately, I buy most of my wine either online, off mailing lists, or from the NH State Liquor Store. There are some decent wine shops in and around the city but most are very pricey. MA has a very high alcohol tax that gets built into the price at the distributor level. I can get some stuff at the NH state stores for less than the MA distributors pay.

Make sure you check out their cellar and talk to the staff. I visited them once during a day visit to Boston and found them to be friendly and informative. You can get on their mailing list by sending an email to the one below.

I'm friends with one of the partners in Brix Wine Shop, about which I can't say enough good things.
Brix Wine Shop 1284 Washington St. Boston, 617-542-2749 Check out Anthony Giglio's review here for a more impartial take. (You'll have to scroll down about 1/5th of the way, or better yet, just search for Brix. |
