Had a little "tailgate party" at my kids swim meet on the weekend. Pulled Pork Sandwiches with homemade BBQ sauce topped with coleslaw. My buddy made Hobo potatoes (sliced new potatoes with gorgonzola, pancetta and leeks) and this all paired very nicely with an Aussie shiraz.

I'm going to have a very non-summer meal of duck confit, and yellow/purple carrots and golden beets roasted in duck fat.

Smells fantastic already!

Add a little bread, WINE, olive oil and my wife and I'm a happy man. Cool

Also, always helps if sitting on Lake Como, the Arno or Amalfi Coast. Wink

Tonight some beef kabobs on the grill with corn on the cob. Don't know what I'm gonna pop yet. It's my roomates birthday so I'll let him pick the wine.

Really? I thought I was the only one. Big Grin

Actually, I posted the wines on the What are you drinking? thread. Nothing too exciting, but a nice Chianti Classico and Salice Salentino.

Nice food weekend. Friday night my wife and I went to Hamamori in Costa Mesa. We have followed their head sushi chef from his last restaurant. Great chef and always takes care of us. We let him send out whatever he wanted and it was an experience. The food ranged from simple like kanpachi sashimi to complex like a seared scallop with miso and sliced truffle and toro with foie gras, ponzu and chives. Highly recommended if you are in the area.

Saturday we had an early dinner after a round of golf at a friends club. Last night I made risotto with corn, mushrooms and peas. Friend brought over a nice Oregon pinot gris (don’t recall the name). Now back to work Frown
