Mace comes from the same plant as nutmeg and has a similar if milder flavor profile. A little goofy to mention both flavors in the same note. Who wrote it?

Mr. Suckling ... =)
was the 02 Pavie.
I have to say tho, when mace came in mind, I was thinking military grade pepper spray. There was a funny comment a few years ago from a friend of mine. "If yer really into hot sauces, try military grade pepper spray, you won't taste anything else for at least a month"

Funny, when I saw your subject line I thought about pepper spray first. Mace isn't so common a spice, in my world anyway. I think I have 3-4 dozen spices in my cabinet and mace isn't in there.

Mace is the outer "webbing" found wrapped around the nutmeg "nut". A comparison could be made regarding the pulp of an orange and orange zest. They both taste like an orange, but are slightly different. Mace actually has a similiar but more intense flavor than nutmeg, which is itself a pretty powerful spice.
