I need to know whether I should decant a 1989 Chateau Camensac Bordeaux (it's a fifth growth).
Usually I'd decant a nice wine, but this one is 18 years old and I'm worried the wine will be oxidized too much and break down too fast in the decanter? Or is a bottle like this necassary to decant?
Your thoughts...
Thanks for the help!

Stand this bottle up several days before you plan on drinking it. Decant very gently for sediment only. Drink immediately. Have a backup ready, as this puppy might be over the hill. Good luck! Report back if you get a minute when you've tried it.

Thanks for the advice PurpleHaze. I plan on drinking this within the next few weeks, so I'll let you know if it turned out okay or not. I'm concerned it is past its drinking window as well... but we'll see.

What a drag PH - that '89 Bordeaux was pure trash. The freaking cork was ruined, as soon as I pulled that sucker out I knew it was going to find a home in the kitchen sink. Good thing I had a nice back up.
