Pinot Drinkers-

Any suggestions for good Pinot Noir in the $20-25.00 range.

Most Pinots I have found that I really liked are fairly expensive. $30.00 to 50.00. Ok for special occasions (Friday & Saturday nights).

Thanks for your suggestions!

Try out the Yering Station Pinot Noir '03 from the Yarra Valley- absolutely to die for!

Also the New Mexican vinyard Gruet makes a great Pinot Noir as well.

Being in the Philippines, I find these wines to be quite affordable, and if I convert the prices into dollars, they are definately under 20.

Cheers!

I have never tried pineapple wine- but we do have a very potent wine made from Coconut called Lambanog! That stuff gets you trashed!!! Smile

Unfortunately our climate is not ideal for growing any vines successfully, so all of our wine are imported. Wine culture in the Philippines is slowly growing though- I actually teach Beverage and Wine at an international Hospitality School here. Smile

I just posted a TN on the '04 Rodney Strong RRV Pinot. Not sure how you like your Pinot, but for 16 bucks, it's a good deal. It reminds me of '04 Sea Smoke Botella.

If you can find them, several that you might want to try -- listed in my order of preference (best last) -- are:

2003 Sterling Vinters (California) - Vinter's Collection Central Coast Pinot Noir ($15.00)

2004 Benton Lane (Oregon) - Willamette Valley Estate Pinot Noir ($19.00)

2002 Balletto (California) - Russian River Valey Pinot Noir ($19.00)

2004 Broadly Vineyards (Oregon) - Estate Pinot Noir ($23.00)

2002 Bethel Heights Vineyard (Oregon) - Estate Pinot Noir ($25.00)

I would suggest that you also do a search in the 'Wine Conversation' section. There are a couple of threads there with additional suggestions.

I’m not sure if you’ll be able to find either of these Oregon Pinots but both are decent. The quoted prices are from the store in which I buy my wine.

2004 Stoller Pinot Noir JV - $21.98

2004 Domaine Coteau Pinot Noir, Yamhill County - $24.98

General wine suggestions probably belong better in the wine conversations forum?

One of the heads of the Sommelier Institute of New Jersey/ Sommelier Executive Council who I represent strongly reccomends Louis Latour Pinto Noir. This is an inexpensive wine that has good flavor and comes from a prominent producer.

For around $17, look for O'Reilly's 2005 Oregon PN...almost impossible to beat for the quality for less than $20.

I have two I like from the Central Coast. Five Rivers Pinot Noir and Cambria Pinot Noir Julia's Vinyard. Both just under $20
Living in Texas requires me to find what I can buy at my local wine store.
