Here's fair warning...

I've just given the first GA (for Geek Alert) rating to a Wine Spectator video. GA-rated videos contain a fair amount of technical info and, as my husband said, they are not for everyone.

In other words, not everyone cares about lignification, pip maturity or yellowing basal leaves -- even though these factors are really important to wine quality and winemakers toss terms like this around before their morning cup of coffee and occasionally lie awake at night worrying about them.

So, if you're interested in learning more about the intricacies of making wine in the vineyard and in the winery, make sure to watch the the GA-rated videos.

If you're not that into wine --or into that end of wine-- we have plenty of non-GA videos too (and we'll have more). Or, you might tune in to some of them; most winemakers will say that they're really farmers and it's pretty neat to remember that wine is just fermented grapes.

Oh, so what's the first GA video? It's the one shot by Harvey Steiman when he went up to Oregon to check out harvest (we knew he was a super taster, but this is a new talent that we'll have to encourage).
