With my wine bottle collection increasing (and still fresh in this wine knowledge experience), it is becoming a bit more challenging keeping track of what I have. Although I do not have many bottles, I now have enough to forget what I have. I have bought some wines (not many) that are age worthy, and will continue to do so. What do you forum members think of WS’s New Cellar Management Tool for a beginner? Is it easy to use?

I haven't used the WS software, but I've read that you can't add wines for with there's no WS review. Is that true? If so, it would be a deal breaker for me as a large portion of my cellar has no reviews.
As for CellarTracker, that seems to be the most popular choice. However, I simply use a database that I created maybe 20 years ago.

I did a quick tour and while being able to do reviews and shelf talkers, not having the vast majority of wines available in the data base makes it a waste.
Cellartracker works great.

If you just want to keep track of what you have in any easily organized way, there is a nicely done Excel template available for $10. Saves hours and hours of setting up your own. It also had the advantage of being on your hard drive instead of having to be online. I'm quite happy with it. It's called Wine Cellar 2.1 and info is at: http://greatwinefinds.com/id47.html

PH, I have not looked into this thing that the fella suggested. Still, I am not sure if I get what you mean. Are you saying, "don't bother." I must admit: I feel rather naive trying to decipher intentions in some of these posts.

Trust me, Sancho. PH is being very 'tongue in cheek' (joking). Be certain to take a very close look at CellarTracker. You'll find the vast majority of forumites use this specific site for tracking their wines. It's for good reason.

???????? It's an Excel macro that my 3rd grader could write!! Maybe she could start selling something similar this summer so she can start raising cash for her college fund and quit being such a freeloader.
Do all purchases come with a can of cured & machine processed meat product?

You gotta give the guy some credit. It was $5 for version 1 and $5 for the upgrade to 2.1.

Altaholic,
Got it...but to be honest with you, I do not use Excel, never have.

Thanks for the clarification, KSC! Seriously, Sancho - for most users CellarTracker is the only way to go. If your collection is fairly small, it's a great time to get started. You can get organized and use much of the site for free. Once you realize how good it is, then send Eric some $$....
