Tony, welcome to the site. Neither the 2000 or 1996 are ready to drink now. The best one you might be able to find for current drinking is the 1990.

Just one more sip.

Tony X,
The 2000 vintage should reach a good maturity in 2011. The 1996 should be drinkable now Wink
Lucky you if you have these in your cellar!

Clemence, you're recommending drinking Lafite from great tannic vintages at 11 years? The wines in question will likely not reach their prime til they're well past 2 decades old. The 1990 is still improving and the 1986 won't be ready to drink til it's more than 30 years old.

Just one more sip.

No no... i would recommend to wait longer as you did. I guess i wasnt clear : it was a very minimum.

Note : According to Parker the 2000 vintage: from 2011 to 2050.
the 1996 : 2012 to 2050 (I might have been wrong on this one)

You will be rewarded if you hold onto the '96 and '00 for several years.

I agree with Board-O and would try the '90 or other lesser years like '85 or '88 (both drinking well right now and more affordable).
