For domestic wines the winery website should be a great sourc of info as what the drinking windows are. If you are in a wine shop the staff may know, but not always. A little research is always do-able. Wine Spectator and Wine Advocate usually give a drink now or hold for this long recommendation. You may want to subscribe to a magazine.
