Can someone please confirm my understanding of the wine ratings on this website?! I posted a question to support and never received a response. Is the price listed next to a wine rating the current retail price or the price at the time of the wine review? For example, the 2000 Caymus Cab rates 92 and the price is $70
(Packs in lots of ripe, rich, complex Cabernet flavors, gushing with ripe currant, plum and wild berry, turning spicy and revealing pretty oak and herb shadings as well. Long, smooth aftertaste. Drink now through 2010. 26,000 cases made. –JL) It was reviewed in the Feb 28, 2003 Issue of wine spectator.

is $70 the price on Feb 28, 2003 or the price today?

It is the retail price upon release. Depending on your sources you could get wines for less than the retail release ( I think I paid $64 for the '00 Caymus?), but the high demand wines will cost you far more than retail - that is if you can get it at all.

The specific price you mentioned was undoubtably the mailing list release price or a suggested retail price from the winery. The reviews are static and reflect their data on the wine at that time.

Yes. Look for retrospective and vertical tastings. I don't see them too often, but they are done.

Thanks everyone for your response!! and the sidebar question was something I thought was done as well--I think it was done on one of the earlier Caymus cabs actually---only the most recent review is posted though.

Most often you will see the retaste / repost scenario for barrel scores followed by bottle scores. Both sets of scores and notes remain available.
