Dear Members,

I'd like to try some red wine that has a taste between merlot and dessert wine. Thanks for your help. Smile

Dear Logan,
Do what I do. Mix 1 part 1959 Petrus with 1 part 1967 d'Yquem. You're welcome.

Just one more sip.

Nice to have money :-). In case you are like most of us and cannot afford Chateau d'Yquiem, I recommend Les Banyuls or any other Vin Doux Naturel or Dessert-style Jumilla from Spain.

While they're not exactly my cup of tea, I know some producers make different variations of late harvest red varietals like Merlot, Cab Franc and Syrah. You'll get the dark fruit like Merlot with some sweetness like a dessert wine. This winery has a Late Harvest Merlot for sale near the bottom of the page. Mind you, I've never tried it.

Cheers!
