I was going through Parker's Buyer guide and a question came up. When he says this wine X 1999 will drink well the next 6-7 years for example, does it mean 6-7 years from the vintage year i.e. from 1999 or from the date he tasted it?? My guess would be from the date he tasted the wine but this date is never mentioned so how come you come up with the right drinking window?? Thanks a lot for the clarification guys!!

Typically, drinking windows from pros not containing specific dates (i.e. best from 2008-2030) will be from the date the critic tasted the wine. Your guess is right. If the review was in RP's buying guide, I'd guess the publication date would be your starting point for the 6-7 year window.
Many retailers (Premier Cru is often guilty of this) use Tasting Notes like the one you cite without providing the date of the review. Doesn't help much!
