While I occasionally like to indulge in more expensive "treat" wines, I like to have an "everyday" inexpensive wine around. Over the past few years, I've been purchasing 1.5 liter bottles of Columbia Crest Merlot/Cabernet for my everyday red ($17) and Heritage Vineyards Chardonnay for my everyday white ($12). I found both of these wines to be quite good for my tastes and wallet and both have been enjoyed by my family and friends at gatherings.

Unfortunately, the only available Heritage Chardonnay now is the 2005 vintage. Over the years, this wine has been remarkably consistent as you would expect from such a large vintner, but the 2005 tastes more like grapefruit juice than it does .. well .. anything else.

Now I'm looking for a reasonable substitute because I detest grapefruit juice by itself or disguised as wine. Can anyone recommend a replacement? I'm looking for a dry soft white wine with little or no citrus tang; it doesn't have to be a chardonnay.

Thanks for sharing your expertise and experience

You don't list your location so I can't say whether your area carries Vendange, Parducci, Smoking Loon or Charles Shaw(the infamous 2 Buck Chuck-but it fits the parameters).

I'd change my drinking habits to "every other day" & double the price point of your purchases.

Check in Wine Conversations for the thread "College wine lover needs help" for other recommendations, although RIGHT NOW, I would go with Aussie & Chile rather than European as they would not be to your liking(RIGHT NOW).

Thanks, ronmc2 ...

I live in upstate New York on the PA border. I know Vendange is sold here, but I'll have to check out the others.

I didn't write "every day"; I wrote "everyday".

Thanks again for the quick response.
