I am a complete novice regarding wine or alcohol of any kind for that matter. I hate the taste of all liquor I have ever tried. However, I would like to be able to drink a glass of red wine before bed for the heart healthy reports and to help relax after the stress of the day. I need a recommendation on a wine I might like. I know it would have to be sweet and someone told me the tannic acid content is probably part of what I find unpalitable. I don't know if price is a factor, but would not mind paying a little extra for something that didn't tast like "bad medicine" Does anyone have suggestions?

if you want a somewhat sweet wine to have before retiring and don't mind a little extra cost try a Dow's 20 year old Tawny Port-it will knock your socks off-the 30 year old will also but costs quite a bit more-for a more modestly priced red try a 2003 bordeaux-not really sweet but nice to have before bedtime.

Mandy, tannin and tannic acid are two very different things. Wine contains tannin which is derived from the skins, seeds and oak (if any is used).

try a cali merlot. go to a wine shop and ask for a medium bodied merlot thats fruit forward and not to tanic. there are plenty of fruit bombs out there that should be something that will fit your palate
