As Harvey Steiman (Wine Spectator editor at large) was planning his recent trip up to Oregon to report on harvest, he called me, wondering if I thought he should take the video camera with him.
My answer was something along the lines of "Heck, yes!"
You can find Harvey's results in the
Wine Spectator Video Theater on the Feature Story channel. The video is called Reading the Signs at Beaux Freres.
If you have trouble viewing the flash videos in the Video Theater, you can find downloadable versions on the
mp4 page.
This video is not for everyone and it is GA-rated.
Here's the thread that explains the rating.
Anyone have any questions about Michael Etzel's explanation of the ripeness signs? Lignification? Pip maturity?
I hope you enjoy this video and join me in encouraging Harvey to bring the video camera along whenever he goes on a trip to wine country.
Cheers!
