I'm new to the forum sorry if this has been covered before. My local wine shop doesn't have the variety of wines I want to try. I don't want to join a wine club. What are some of the reputable places to purchase wine from online ? Someone told me Bertelli's or Wine Library. Any assistance would be appreciated !

You've got to give us more info. What wines do you like?

Subscribe to Wine Searcher. A great investment. Call or e-mail the retailers who have the wines you're interested in and listed carefully to their responses to your inquiries. Buy wine from people who you are comfortable with. You can also ask for references here.

Another very important question -- where do you live? Depending on the state/country your options may be severely (or completely) limited.

I live in Lousiana. My taste in wine is very eclectic but definitely red. I like to try wines rated in Wine Spectator and I like to "go country by county" trying different wine. I'm currently in Italy and in particular Piedmont. Thanks for the help.

Yes, both Wine-searcher.com and wineaccess.com will give you info on where to shop. Then you have to check whether the company will ship to your state (fortuantely LA seems to be one of the more enlightened states). I try to buy wines on the same coast (mostly from NY and NJ dealers that will ship to me in VA), but some stuff I have to go further to get.

All shipping has to be by one of the private companies (DHL, FEDEX, or UPS). The Post Office won't handle wine for consumption.

I've dealt with winelibrary.com, garrys, dsokolin, and a few others.
