Hi,

Looking at tasting notes for Piper-Heidsieck Brut Champagne and it seems that most of them are for Non-Vintage wine. For Brut Champagne NV, there are a number of tasting notes for different years.

When you have an actual bottle of Piper-Heidsieck Brut Champagne, how can you tell which NV tasting note applies to this particular bottle as there is no vintage year/or other info available?

Anyone can offer some help here? Thanks.

Typically NV bottles are blended by the wine maker to be consistent year in and out.

So the latest TN for one NV of the house should be same across for all the NV bottles of that house.

Should be the same. But in practice isn't. This is the big problem with NV Champagne, you don't know what vintage it isn't. Some producers have started putting disgorging dates on the bottles, which is a major leap forward.

Agreed, Mumm was terrible NV for a while and then it took a major turn for the better. Strangely, you could buy it very cheaply at one point and you can't seem to any more.

Wonder if there is a link.
