Is it possible to rebottle a larger format Sauternes into smaller bottles and not spoil the wine in the short term?

Yes. Rebottle into clean, dry bottles with clean sound corks and allow as little air exposure as possible. I've done it with Port plenty of times.

Just one more sip.

Define "short-term".......

--------------------
"One may dislike carrots, spinach, beetroot, or the skin on hot milk. But not wine. It is like hating the air that one breathes, since each is equally indispensable."
