My best guess is that young Bordeaux that you will be drinking in the next 2 years will be fine at 68-70. It's even possible they may show a little bit better in their youth if stored at that temperature. It's too high for long-term storage. I have a similar problem. I have storage for a fairly large number of bottles, about 900; I currently have about a thousand. I am storing some in the garage in an unplugged freezer at about 50 degrees. When the warm weather arrives, if I still have the wines there, I'll have to put ice in the freezer every couple of days, so I'm trying not to buy wine for a while.
Just one more sip.

Board-O is right. That temp is not a killer and constant temp is better than fluctuating. Most restaurants store at a lot worse Keep all of your white wine that you will be drinking over the next year in a regular refridgerator. Don't know if that helps YOUR situation or maybe you don't have many whites, but that's what I do when I run tight. No need for 2006 Sauvignon Blancs to be taking up space in a cellar or even a wine unit if space is not there. Even some cheapie fruit bombs are better off in there than in a closet. I have an outside fridge in the garage just for beer and early consumption white wine - champagne too. I can fit a good 15-20 bottles. I let them sit for a 1/2 hour afer taking them out and the temp is perfect. No harm done.

Good luck, you're a stronger man than I, if you can actually pull it off.

I've been saying that for 4 months straight. Hasn't happened. I ended up getting an off site storage to accomodate the wines.
I'm completely fine today...and I didn't even take my pills!!

I wouldn't worry about it. Just go through your stash and pick the stuff you expect to drink over the next 6 months or so and pull it out.

If there are other like minded in your area, start the business and provide the service. The best ideas come from need.
Well, Before you "start the service" and possibly bankrupt your family on Ray's idea (These Utah people are so fearless) - make sure there is a real need for an off-site storage place. You want to make sure you aren't only 1 of 10 people within 30 miles of you looking for something like this. There's a reason there aren't many wine bars in Fargo either

I would also check local laws. After looking for off-site storage in TN, i was informed by an owner of a LWS that he tried to open one - but it was against the law in TN. Apparently, it was a felony. There might be a good reason why no one has opened one near you....
