I am seeking tasting notes and information on '95 Chateau Richard coup de couer Saussignac.I have one bottle that was a gift, however the person I recieved it from has not tried it either. As I fully intend to drink it with this person we are very curious. Will it pair with foie gras? Help!

Well, GA and I finally tried this yesterday. Our first experience with Saussingnac. Definetly Semillon. It was kind of a cousin to Sauternes. The color was a deep amber. It had a nose of toasted nuts and caramel. Flavors of hazelnut and toffee, with reserved sweetness. The great apricot type flavors I normally associate with Sauternes were missing. This was mildly sweet and not cloying. The finish was not huge, however it was pleasent. This wine lacked some of the complexity and depth I have found in most Semillon wines. I enjoyed this a little more than the others who drank it. 88-90 PR points.

My notes are pretty close,
Color: Gold, starting to turn dark. Nose: Sweet, toffee and honey. Tasting: Some toffee and almond with a touch of pineapple. Sweet but not cloying. Simple. Finish: Turns a bit astringent. Medium length for a sticky. GA points 86 |
