Stevie, Do not give up on this winery. I have had many wonderful wines from Sociando... but find they drink well the first 7-15 years, or at least that has been what my palate finds  I am sure others will offer opinions.;

Stevie, Amen that you see an 86 as a very good wine. I have soooooo many wines I think are very nice I would score an 87-89. I do not give scores anymore for many reason's, but always find it odd when people slam a wine then score it an 87 I must see the 100 point system very different than many

1982 Château Sociando-Mallet - France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Haut-MédocAtlanta Vielles Vignes – Bone’s and Cabs (Bone's Restaurant, Atlanta, GA): Quiet and slightly turned on the nose. Dark cassis and cherry in an amazing layer of oh-so-soft, supple, and smooth tannins. Flavors are finely integrated, but have a slight vinegar edge that I couldn’t shake off. This bottle was past its prime. S85 3/28/2006
