After the disappointment from the 1995 Solaia last night, I opened one of my 1995 Tignanello's

Marginally better than the 1995 Solaia, this 1995 Tig still has a youthfulness but not much more fruit.....with a dry finish, I doubt this wine has anywhere to go but down.

If you have any 1995 Tignanello, I suggest you drink it up, now! 87/88 points (perhaps a little kind)

Thanks for the tasting note Latour.
I have about 1/2 a case of 95 Tignanello and the last two bottles I have had have been underwhelming. Your notes are spot on with my impressions of it. Not an ager!

Cheers!

  • 1995 Antinori Tignanello Toscana IGT - Italy, Tuscany, Toscana IGT (6/11/2006)
Decanted for about 2 hours, tasted before and after decanting. Very deep color, quite opaque. Expressive sexy nose- sweet dark plums, chocolate, integrated oak, a little pepper or earth. This starts well on the palate, but dies a little in the middle and at the end, becoming quite astringent. The acid is nice, the tannin is too much for the fruit on the palate. 96 point nose, 88 point body. This was probably better when it enjoyed more youthful exuberance. (90 pts.)
