Great stuff from Sicily.
I really liked the 2001 Nero and Don Antonio bottlings... (Don Antonio is their more expensive bottling, if you don't know.) The Don Antonio was so smooth that my white-wine drinking mother enjoyed it. Maybe my memory is fading, but I'd say the 2003 Nero is even better than the 2001. Very nice Nero D'Avola character. Dark, smooth and easy to drink - more refined than Aglianico, my other fave native Italian red. A great intro wine for anyone who hasn't tried Nero D'Avola before. 89pts. Anyone seen/tried a 2003 Don Antonio yet? Maybe they're not released yet. Look for a deal on it (~$12 is good)... Price has been creeping up some places. |

The Don Antonio has been my "go-to" sausage pizza wines for years. (And I've always thought this a great qpr) '02 was a bust. Nice to hear about the '03, I'll have to check it out.

If $12 is their more expensive bottling, how much is their Nero? They must be giving it away in Italy. I noticed you changed your location. You're creeping closer to DC, which might be a good thing for you. Email inbound. |

My post was confusing.
The Nero D'Avola regular bottling is $11-$15 generally. The Don Antonio expensive bottling is more like $23-$30. If you're drinking the Don Antonio as pizza wine, Whiner, good for you! I'm jealous. |

I was about to say... WL has the Nd'A for $12 and the Don for $27... I was going to ask where you found the Don for $14.
And $27 for pizza wine... WOW... that must be some pizza. Go HOKIES!!! |

Sometimes I have Brunello with pizza. As long as it's not a frozen pizza, good wine goes just fine. |
