1998 Tardieu-Laurent Côte Rôtie -- still very dark, almost inky; an hour in decanter opens up the aromatics considerably, lots of cherry, smoke, grilled meat; very full-bodied, smooth texture, strong cherry, bacon, and olive flavors, hints of cedar and black licorice, really stomps on the midpalate; long finish, cherry and cedar outlasting the tannins. About 93-94 pts. Still has an obvious upside; each sip tasted just a bit better than the last. I have a couple more bottles that I won't touch for 3-4 years.

I've had this one not too long ago. Really nice wine. Good call on bacon, Seaquam.
p.s.I really should start doing some tasting notes. If only I weren't so lazy. |
