Tried the 1994 Potensac (Medoc) to compliment my earlier tastings of the 1995 and 1996. Very disappointed. Whereas the 1996 was a heady bouquet of fruit and mellowed tannins, and the 1995 was considerably this side of "not bad for an aging Bas-Medoc", the 1994 tasted like, well, Robitussin (the cough medicine). Maybe I had a bad bottle...

CB, I haven't sampled the '94, but agree that the '96 is excellent, especially for the price, and that the '95 is a small notch below, although still evolving. I was introduced to Potensac several years ago while visiting a friend in France. This property seems to have a better name among the locals there than in the States. From all indications, the '00 Potensac (which I've added to my collection) is supposed to be a solid effort.
