Mm, I'd attribute it to bottle variation. The 2002 is an excellent wine. That 375 was an off and/or damaged bottle. The only dog was last night's puppy.

Just one more sip.

The 375s were purchased separately from the 750s so you may be right. Thanks for the feedback.

Had the '99 tonight and it was very good, though not as full bodied as Insignia (to be expected).

Had a number of different 99's recently and they're all drinking well now, better than a lot of the 97's.

Also, it would be interesting to open a 375ml and just drink without decanting. However, I think Board-O is correct; this sounds like bottle variation--off or damaged! I would think your next bottle should be okay!

With only 4+ years in the bottle I would not expect there to be that much difference between 375 and 750s re: aging. If the wine is good, it should last 5-7 years or more regardless of bottle size. My guess is that you just had a off bottle.

I always wanted to be a procrastinator.

Definitely an off-bottle. This is an excellent wine. I ended up with a case of these at $33 ea and wish that I had more at that price.

They're not talking about Insignia, they're talking about the "regular" Phelps Cab. The Phelps Insignia is $125-$150 here.
