The dark purple wine had a nose of cedar and baked fruit. On the palate, the wine was concentrated and tasted more alcoholic than the 15.3% claimed on the label. It wasn't as deep or rich as the best Martinellis. 90

Board-O, I had two bottles of this and drank them both up about a year ago. I agree with your TN. Good juice--but not great and hard to justify the price or the BS you have to put up with to be on their mailing list.

Don't get me started on the logistical problems of dealing with Martinelli. If I didn't love their wines so much, I'd have long ago ceased dealing with them.

I gotta admit, Board-O, I was trollin' a bit with you on my Martinelli comment! lol
Hope you get your problems resolved and the wines delivered in proper condition. My issues with Martinelli are more specific to their "hostage wines" approach. ************ "I've gotta be honest with you, guys. I need more cowbell." |

You hooked me too,mletson !
To buy their Pinot & Zin, I have to buy their Chard??? and other wines I don't want???? Board-O, you introduced me to the G&L, Jackass Hill, et.al., but you didn't warn me about their "strong armed tactics"! Now, I think I know where they got that Jackass Hill! |

It was a tough call but I have decided that the Martinelli mailer goes directly to File 13.
I love their wines and have not experienced many of the problems described on this board or VC. For me, once I figure in the added cost of the "Hostage Wines" it's just not a good proposition. Too many other wineries making good pinot and zin for far less cost or BS such as Siduri/Novy, Loring, Clos Pepe, Carlisle. Unfortunately, my funds are limited so these are the folks that get my dough. ************ "I've gotta be honest with you, guys. I need more cowbell." |

Ordered off wine list in Naples Florida over the weekend. $69 on the list.
No formal notes taken, but alcohol showed more on the nose than the palate. With some air, settled down. Still dark fruit showing although with a distinct black cherry/rasberry component. Medium length finish. MLV and I enjoyed this and it went well with our food. |

We have had the Jackass, but this is the first bottle of this wine we have had. It did not strike me that they moved too many of these (otherwise they wouldn't still have the '01).
