We had our 9th bottle of this three nights ago with consistent results. I had hoped to hold one or two to follow its progress, but that may not happen.

Just one more sip.

I have been searching for this wine for months now to no avail- nothing left- anywhere! Frown

Probably a dumb question, but would any of you purchase the 2008 (when it becomes available) no questions asked?

I would. Every bottle I've had of this wine from every vintage I've tried has been excellent. At this price, after the reviews come out, it'll disappear quickly.

Just one more sip.

Board-O:

Go ahead and ship one of your remaining bottles to Utah (I'll send my address). I'll even send you a "sticker" to make it appear official. Roll Eyes Big Grin

Where are you in Utah? We'll be out there for a while this summer, but with a very busy schedule.

Just one more sip.

We'll be staying in Torrey and Moab for the Utah portion of our trip.

Just one more sip.

My second bottle, and this lived up to every expectation set by the first bottle. I intended this as a pleasant 'warm-up' quaffer, but it ended up up-staging a SQN Hoodoo Man (which underperformed, compared to a previous bottle). Delicious, deep fruit and a voluptuous support of a fantastic, buttery background. Easy to love. 93-4 easily.

2007 Melville Viognier Estate Verna's - USA, California, Central Coast, Santa Barbara County (10/30/2009)

Nice aromatics with floral notes along with peaches and lemons. Not as floral smelling as many Viogniers but seems to have more fruit notes. Tastes of lemons, lemon custard, honey, and sweet apples. Initially I thought this was a bit flabbier than the last time that I had it and was concerned that it would be better alone vs. with food. However, with some air, the acidity seemed to kick in and this went quite well with blackened grouper. It would be really nice with scallops. Not as viscous as some other Viogniers but nonetheless it has a very nice mouth feel. This is an all around pleasurable bottle of wine that is nicely balanced. I am looking forward to trying the '08.

Nice note Altaholic. I think I will pick up a few of the '08's today.
