Purchased from the winery for $48, on the recommendation of Eric White, after his "Night of 1000 Pinots" 1000 Pinots
This is one impressive pinot! It needs about 45 minutes of decanting to start hitting its stride, but once it does, the fruit is ripe and highly extracted. Strawberry jelly and dark sticky berries, but with just a shade of spice, maybe cinammon and vanilla. Velvety texture, with solid but unobtrusive structure. A hedonistic version of pinot...and I loved it. 93P.
I will try the '01 Tandem Pisoni tonight.
Thanks, Eric.
Cheers,
Otis

To follow up on my first post, the '01 Tandem Pisoni PN is as good or better than the Keefer Ranch. Fantastic. 93-94P.
Tried it next to another excellent pinot, the '01 Melville Carrie's. The Melville had the better nose, but I thought the Tandem Pisoni had more intense fruit and a longer finish.
Cheers,
Otis

Well Otis did not open 1000 Pinots on Saturday, but of the 56 wines he opened, 6 were Pinot's. This was my second favorite of the night behind the 1999 Chehalem Stoller Pinot.
This was a very deep and integrated wine. It had rich extracted fruit with notes of dark berries. A more fruity powerful wine rather than an elegant style. It was medium bodied with a tinge of heat on the finish but nothing unpleasant. An excellent Pinot. 92 points.

I only took mental notes on this and the Melville Carries Block? because those two really stood out. Both are a couple of years away from being seriously awesome, especially the Tandem. The fruit just overflows out of the Melville ... it's the first Pinot I have really been enamored with and I voted for it as my WOTN. I may or may not buy a bottle for $40 ...
