I found this by chance a few months ago and, having enjoyed the Vinum Pets Pettie Sirah, decided to take a chance with it. It was the only bottle in the store and was marked down to $16.

350 cases were produced.
Dark garnet color with good clarity. Initially, big nose of earthy leather and dried cherries, suprisingly in a style that reminded me of many full bodied Itallian wines. With time, the leather notes subsided in favour of sweet dark fruits.
On the pallet, there was a thin sweet layer up front, quickly giving way to a mid pallet filled with dark fruit notes. With time, black pepper notes emerged just prior to the finish. The wine had a long finish of spice, fruit, and fine tannins. Really an impressive Cab Franc! Lots of complexity with considerable depth. Too bad I cannot locate a few more bottles. I'll give this a solid 90pts. Big Grin Big Grin
