2002 Ornellaia
Dark red. Very pretty aromas of strawberry, subtle mint, layers of of grilled meat, and earth tone. Full body. Concentrate and very dense. Deep black fruit, sappy, coffee, and high acidity. Finish last more than 1 minute, but a bit one dimension. Later develop into a clean mocha cafe in a cup. 91 points. Give it 5 more years.

2003 Ornellaia
Dark red, and darker than the 2002. This wine definitely has a wow element. More complex, dense chocolate cover ripe cherry, strong black currant, grilled meat, and subtle earth. It reminds me of top class Napa Cab with Italian twist. Layers of naunced fruist and oak interwoven perfectly. Flavors of blackfruits, full body, and bitter wood finish with rustic tannin. Super long lasting. This wine make the 2002 seems like a table wine by comparison. Paired perfectly with risotto pericino served that night. 93+ points.

2004 Ornellaia
Dark just like 2003. Super aromas of blossom of wild flowers, dark chocolate, kirsh, earth, resin, oak and spice all woven together. Smooth, super concentrate with red and black fruits. Super sappy to the point of almost painful. Full body, powerful but at the same time quite silky, and complete wine with high acidity to compliment. This has 1 minute+ finish that just stick to my tongue and never let goes. "Magical" with alluring quality. 95 points.

Deep bright red and blackish. Wow. This is just difficult to describe aroma of Merlot. Alluring, perfume, and layers of oak, ripe red & black fruits (but not over ripe), mocha, french chocolate grenache, bouquet of fresh flowers, hint of earth, and sweet fresh cream. Super full and dense body, sappy. Flood of fruit syrup, espresso, and long flavors of coffee bean echoing in aftertaste. This wine is painfully young right now, but doesn't mean it's not a great wine. It will need another 5 to 10 years to come together. An amazing Italian Merlot. 96 points.

Dpromphan, I almost missed this post. Red Face

Very nice! Was this a trade tasting, or did you pull these from your cellar?

Also, thanks for taking one for the team. As for the Masseto, I feel Italy (Bolgheri) has the finest Merlot in the world today.
