Yes, see earlier in this thread. Roll Eyes

I can understand why it is his WOTM however often it is. Probably the best chardonnay for the money that I have experienced.

sprnplr,
Perhaps you noticed, but I was returning your favor. Wink

It’s a very good Chard (97 Roll Eyes ) and I’m very happy to have several in my cellar, but there are a world of great CA Chards out there. Hartford, Hobbs, Peay, B&C, WS, Aubert (ok, not cheap) and many others.

And there are many, many more other great white wines.

We had this again Sunday evening. I've found some bottle variation with this wine, but every bottle has been outstanding. This one had a beautiful Burgundian nose with the great viscous, mineral character and the rich oak, lemon, and vanilla that combine to produce that wonderful California opulence. 94

Just one more sip.

Board-O - Ditto on the notes. My wife and I opened this wine on Monday evening with Chilean Sea Bass. What a pairing.

Hello Everyone...

I live on Hyde Road in Sonoma and most of Ramey's chard grapes come from here. There are also lots of other wineries that source their grapes from all of Carneros, but mostly Pinot's and Chards. Hyde Road runs West of Hwy 121 the link to Napa from Sonoma. A highly touted area for grapes. Etude makes a beautiful Pinot here.
Have a nice day!

Had my one and only bottle of this on Saturday evening with jumbo shrimp on the BBQ. Very nice wine, no formal notes but outstanding the longer it got air. Had about 2 glasses left and finished them tonite, go figure was actually better as some of the minerally finish had left just leaving pure fruit. Sat. nite 93-94 pts, tonite 95-96 pts.

I had this again today with lobster for lunch with friends.

Many tasting notes already above, and still a great wine imo.

Dollar for dollar, Ramey Chardonnay has few if any equals in California.

A wonderful bottle of wine yet again. Cool

In a blind tasting hosted by the Executive Wine Seminars with a theme: CA Chardonnay vs White Burgundy, the Hyde tied for first place amongst a field of 7 Cali's and 7 Burgs. Their combined tasting note was similar to the above notes: "Medium yellow color. Drop dead gorgeous bouquet features lots of smoke, coconut, spice, elegant tropical fruits, refreshing minerality, with fine custardy exotic white fruits. There was a slight sulfur problem in one of the bottles. Very youthful on entry with vitality and grip. The spicy apple and mineral flavors entice us as this wine uses the palate as a dance floor. Very long, consistent finish. We heard: “This has to be Burgundy,” but it was an easy mistake to make. 95pts" As a result of the notes here, and its head to head performance, I have purchesed some 2004 since the 2003's have long vacated shelves. I can't wait to try it.

Roentgen,

I had lunch with David Ramey (we drank Merry Edwards Red Face) and it would be music to his ears imo for his wine to be confused in a blind tasting with Burgundy.

Just one more sip.

Great nose with lemon oil, some spice, and tropical fruit. It is just gorgeous; you want to keep your nose in the glass and just inhale for a while. The wine still has very firm acidity on the palate with some of that tropical fruit and wet stones. Having had some older vintages and being familiar with this wine's aging profile, I'd say another year will take what few seams remain away. If you have one, hold it until next winter and it will be up a point or two on whatever scale you use.

We had this at a BYO dinner last night. It's a consistent beauty, with great lemon oil flavor, concentration, balance, and minerality. 96

Just one more sip.
