Opened one of these to pair with a beef stew.
At first blush, it had a nose of barnyard. I know some folks like that, but it's not my favorite aroma. The barnyard persisted all through the evening, however it became less noticable as time went on, and underneath arose a plume of red fruits, cinnamon, and allspice. Just enough tannin to give it some backbone.
By the next night, the barnyard had disappeared (thankfully!) and the other flavors still remained remarkedly sharp, with the tannins softening nicely.
My score, 88 points.
