Quinta da Romaneira 1967 Colheita (Port) – Bottled in 1997. Served slightly chilled and tasted non-blind.

Completely brown, slowly fading to colourless at the rim. Nice nose, if a bit alcoholic initially. Extremely nutty (roasted hazelnuts) with burnt sugar. Somewhat similar to a sweet Oloroso.
Very smooth bodied and surprisingly, extremely refreshing. Again lots of nuts, some dried figs and raisins. The midpalate shows more candied citrus: lovely.
Long, long finish with caramel / toffee and milk chocolate.

A good glass of Colheita, at a decent price (50 Euros / bottle): 90 points.

Stevie, Quinta do Romaneira was my first port I ever had. It was the LBV 1994 and I still have a bottle. I may bring it along the next time..... I recall it to be very pure and with good stuffing. Yumm in fact.

Any thoughts how long to keep a LBV BTW? Confused

Thanks for your good advice and I hope you enjoyed this rather dusty brownish port.

NDD: I've had Romaneira LBV's from '86 and '89 that were still lovely, so there is a good chance that the '94 is still pretty good as well.
