A blend of 55% Carinena, 30% Grenache and 15% Cabernet.
Decanted about two hours.
On the nose, earthy touches of truffles, mushroom, wild berries and dried herbs, with raspberry, blackberry, overripe plum and smoke on the palate.
While an almost intense and rich wine, it still offers a balance and clean finish (non-cloying) that just separates Priorat wines from many other in my opinion.
I would hold this beauty (if you can) for a year. I attended an offline in Austin and had to buy local. Simply an outstanding wine and even a value in my opinion at $70+.
What wine+art said. Really a fine bottle of wine. I liked the acidity on the finish along with the herbal notes. It needs some time for integration but was delicious.
Would you be interested in trying the 2001? Maybe we can partake in one on your visit to Louisville in Sept.

Here is my TN from Last year
Well I had this on Valentines night in dtown Chicago and I must say that this is a WOW wine. Outside of the flagship Vall Llach this is the best Spanish red I have had to date. Gibsons was very nice in waving the corkage fee. This inky purple wine had a wild nose of violets, and perfume. THe palate was tight just before I had it decanted. After 40 minutes in the decanter the spices were flowing from back to front. The true reason why this is a great wine is in the finish. It had large amounts of blackberry, plum and ripe hand picked blueberries and blackberries. The tannins are sweet and integrated. Outstanding with my filet rubbed in garlic. Everything I hoped for and more. 95pts. Thanks Board-O for the recommendation.
